The City of Cooper City has issued a cease and desist order to Allied Health Organization, Inc., the vendor contracted to operate a COVID-19 testing site at Suellen H. Fardelmann Sports Complex during 2021 and 2022.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding between the City and Allied Health Organization, Inc., the vendor agreed to bill insurance companies and federally funded programs for testing services, with the understanding that reimbursement might not be guaranteed. The agreement specifically outlined that the vendor, not individuals, would bear the financial risk of non-reimbursement.
Despite these terms, the City has learned that individuals who received COVID-19 tests at the site during 2021 and 2022 have been billed for testing services. This action is inconsistent with the agreement in place at the time the testing site operated.
As a result, the City of Cooper City has taken formal action to protect residents and visitors by issuing a cease and desist order to Allied Health Organization, Inc., instructing the vendor to stop billing individuals for these services.
Residents who have received bills for testing conducted at the Suellen H. Fardelmann Sports Complex in 2021 or 2022 should download the cease and desist order and keep it for their records.
