The City of Cooper City has completed the underground installation of streetlight wiring along Sheridan Street from University Drive to NW 89th Avenue.
This project was initiated after a vehicle collision damaged a light pole at Sheridan Street and University Drive, disrupting power to several streetlights and the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) traffic camera at the intersection. Rather than reinstalling overhead wires, the City chose to move the system underground to enhance safety, improve reliability, and reduce the risk of future outages.
With the work now complete, power has been restored to all affected streetlights as well as the BSO traffic camera. In addition to providing safer and more consistent lighting for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians, the underground system also improves the overall appearance of the Sheridan Street corridor.
The City of Cooper City thanks residents for their patience during this important project and looks forward to the benefits of safer and more reliable street lighting along this key roadway.
