A City contractor will begin the second phase of emergency repair work at the northeast corner of Hiatus Road and Stirling Road to complete asphalt restoration at the project site. This phase will require the same lane closures implemented during the initial repair effort in mid-November.
Crews will be on-site from Tuesday, December 2 through Wednesday, December 3. During this period, westbound lanes of Stirling Road will be reduced to one lane approaching Hiatus Road, and left-hand turns from westbound Stirling Road onto southbound Hiatus Road will remain open. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
Phase One of the project addressed structural failures within the underground drainage system that resulted in recurring sinkholes at this busy intersection. The emergency repair work, which was approved for an expenditure of up to $68,815, included dewatering, structural reinforcement, grout injection, and initial roadway stabilization.
The second phase will complete the necessary asphalt restoration to fully reopen the roadway and ensure long-term safety.
The City of Cooper City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as crews finalize this essential work to protect roadway integrity and maintain safe travel conditions.
