It was a barking good time at Michael D. Riordan "City Mike" Park on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Cooper City's Teen Council organized and hosted a very successful Dog Adoption Event at the Cooper City park, located at 5300 SW 122 Avenue, which is also home to one of the City's two dog parks.

Many members of our community, City staff, and partner organizations, including Pet Evolution, Broward County Animal Care, and Good Karma Pet Rescue of South Florida, joined the Teen Council in support of this meaningful cause. Thanks to the hard work of all those involved, the Dog Adoption Event proved to be a heartwarming success by helping two dogs find their forever homes.

The event came on the heels of the Teen Council's Dog Supply Drive, held throughout the month of February, during which residents generously donated dog beds, food, toys, and other essential supplies for canine companions.

"This project required a significant amount of preparation and dedication from the Teen Council members, and I am very proud of the effort they put in," said Joseph Cabret, Parks and Recreation Coordinator. "They did an outstanding job collecting a wide variety of donated items including dog beds, cages, food, blankets, toys, and other supplies that will go toward helping local shelters and animals in need."

Cooper City's Teen Council is made up of teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17. Throughout the year, Council members serve the community by volunteering at events and participating in City programs while developing valuable communication skills and leadership skills.
