The City of Cooper City is proud to announce that its Parks and Recreation Department has been recognized with an Emerald Award at Broward County’s annual Water Matters Day, honoring the City’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable park design at Flamingo West Park.

Presented through Broward County’s NatureScape program, the Emerald Award recognizes municipalities, businesses, schools, and organizations that demonstrate exceptional efforts in creating and maintaining environmentally friendly landscapes. These landscapes incorporate Florida-friendly principles, including the use of native vegetation, water conservation practices, and features that support wildlife habitats.

Flamingo West Park was selected for this prestigious recognition due to its thoughtful design and commitment to sustainability. The park reflects key NatureScape principles by promoting ecological balance, enhancing tree canopy, and incorporating landscaping practices that reduce environmental impact while creating a welcoming space for the community.

The Emerald Awards are presented annually as part of Water Matters Day, Broward County’s signature environmental event, which celebrates conservation, sustainability, and the importance of protecting natural resources.

Cooper City remains committed to maintaining high-quality parks that reflect the community’s values while embracing sustainable practices that benefit both residents and the environment.
