The City of Cooper City is conducting necessary maintenance at the George A. Haughney Utility Complex, 11791 SW 49 Street, as part of ongoing efforts to improve odor control at the facility and reduce impacts on surrounding neighborhoods.
Beginning Monday, August 10, crews will remove accumulated debris from the wastewater treatment operations at the Utility Complex. This work is an important step in helping the facility more effectively manage and reduce odors moving forward.
As the accumulated debris is removed, residents in surrounding areas may temporarily notice foul odors. Plant operators will take measures to minimize and control odors throughout the process. However, some odor is unavoidable during debris removal.
The work is expected to take approximately three to five days, with odors potentially noticeable for up to one week. Conditions are expected to improve as the maintenance is completed.
The City appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as crews complete this necessary work to improve operations and odor control at the George A. Haughney Utility Complex. Residents with questions or concerns can contact the City’s Utilities Department at 954-434-5519.
